Amongst a selection of top level pinot including Beaune 1er Cru, top level Oregon pinot and a new flagship Tapanappa pinot, this really stood out. Maybe the favourite for a few people at lunch. It’s absolutely cracking and in a good place now, with years of potential ahead but also beautiful drinking today. Fragrant “pinosity” with some weight and depth. Red and blue fruit with savoury characters. Superb.

Shy little number, this one. Despite sitting in the decanter for a couple of hours, the nose is still quite closed. Actually, so is the front palate. It has a lovely flow and nice textural finish that lingers. More towards the earthy, brambly end of things than fruit driven.
