2016 base. Starts out briny and citrus-forward and then opens up to orchard fruit and spice, with a stony tautness throughout.

A restrained nose but you can sense there is something there that wants to leap from the glass and attack you.
The first sip was enamel removing. Like sucking on a lemon. With air it opens on both the nose and the palate . Tons of stone and citrus that occasionally allow some tart apple and ripe pear to sneak in. Patience will provide a large dividend.

Layers of texture on acid on texture. How come it’s so hard to write about near-perfect wines? Base ‘16, disgorged ‘19.

A real eye opening stand-out of the Champagne trip, so amazingly expressive/balanced/pure, all GC BdB, can't get any better than that.
