Wow!
This nose is eucalyptus growing through the old dusty cellar.

The nose is as crazy as the flavor profile, heavier bodied with cab fruits - this is not your parents fruit Merlot - this is an education in what Merlot can be, and why you should keep trying varietals you may have given up on.

Still celebrating! 🍷✊🏳️‍🌈

Wow. This is a rich, gorgeous wine that deserves an attempt at a proper note. Pours a pretty burgundy/garnet color. Pronounced aromas push out of the glass: blackberry, blueberry, prune. Vanilla and a dusting of tobacco, but the fruit is the show. Same flavors once you start sipping, but the finish, wow: like a delish blackberry/blueberry cobbler, coating my mouth and lingering on and on.

Berry delicious! Red 'n ripe berries on the plate, slightly acidic yet the low tannins balance the semi off dry, medium bodied finish. Fantastic expression of a WA merlot from Stoneridge vineyard.

Great merlot! Aromas of black currants, leather. The palate is on the fruity side but not overly, just right for my taste, with black currants, blueberries, with mild tannins. Need another bottle!

On the nose, floral and lightly spiced dark cherries, blackberries, blueberries, vanilla, liqueur notes and dark dry & fresh florals. The mouthfeel is richly beautiful. The palate has; dark cherries, cherries, dry strawberries, hints of blue fruits and then the spices quickly kick in with a heat lifting intensity. Notes of red fruit liqueur. Nice round acidity with a beautiful, elegant fruit and medium spiced finish. Substance is another label under the Charles Smith brand. In fact, I was told, Charles has further evolved the name to "Wines of Substance" going forward.

I don't tend to drink merlot often so this was a random purchase at $17. And I'm pissed I didn't buy more. This is drinking very well right now. So well balanced and not overly soft.and fruity.
