Sharper than expected with a smooth finish and aftertaste. Mild on the nose. Hint of bitter melon earthiness yet silky flow, if that even makes sense. Definitely rich and creamy :-)

Smells good. Starts off good but has a bitter finish.

Earthy on the nose; smoky, tannic and full of fruit on the palate. Full bodied with a peppery finish. My brother wants to go to Portugal for a year and if it’s because of their wine sign me up! Grape varietals that I definitely need to learn about. A nice wine to end my week off. Back to work tomorrow.

I’m not a big fan of Portuguese wines — nor Portuguese varietals — so, take this rating for what it’s worth. Frankly I think the 30% Syrah in the blend helps to tone this wine down a bit and smooth off its rough edges. Once this wine opens up — I.e. you need to give it an hour to unclench it’s angry little fist — it’s very drinkable. The Syrah creates a smooth tannic substrate against which all the jarring notes of Portuguese grapes play. This is a Charlie Bird Parker sort of wine. Lots of mineral high notes against slightly off-key low notes, But it will reward the adventurous palate with a fun up-and-down roller coaster ride.

Strong enough to hang with late night black ops 3! Find some. Drink some.

Great black color, plum notes with leather, fruit forward chased by long currant (cassis).

Definitely more on the bitter and dark side. Has a strong after-taste.

Rich oaky nose with hints of spice. Lovely length. Taste a little oaky and dry. Thumbs up, but wouldn’t classify as gotta have it.
