Ballard Canyon has it's own identity for Syrah, and Stolpman Vineyards expresses theirs with gorgeous nuance. If I were to blind before tasting this wine, I would be slightly confused, but call a Syrah from Northern Rhone, but by a newer house. There's the telltale garrigue, florals and smoked meats of N Rhone, but the blue fruit and spice is strong and pervasive enough to make it subtly new world. Gorgeous wine. Really enjoyed this.

Subtle spice, soft cherry and strawberry, med acidity and a hint of underbrush. Nice wine.

Lingonberries, 2 year old acetate, Egyptian fennel soaked for 15 minutes in rose water, Tuesday’s newspaper on a cloudy day, fresh açaí roots, Lithuanian laundered towels!

Fantastic. Dark fruits on the palette and starts out spicy. Lighter bodied than most Syrah but very luscious indeed

More ready to go than I would have thought. Deep. Complex. Compact. Excellent

Enjoyed this with dinner on Christmas Eve. Great fruit, some acid but overall delicious! Aaron would say that this wine is young, but after some time it opens up nicely.
