Solid oaky nose. Tastes of raspberry, cherry and hints of blueberry. Finish is with a quality oak (with vanilla) and spice. I will make one comment... This is a fantastic wine, spot on for fruit flair, spice and minimum tannin, but I have to make one comparison. For a cheaper price the exact same characteristics can be found from Brazin Zin.

This is FANTASTIC with chocolate!! Katie Madigan, Winemaker has much talent. Black cherry & raspberries with some vanilla on lingering finish...

Black fruit; plums, blackberry, black pepper, vanilla; warmth in the palette; more complex than the disappointing 2012

A case of the 95 fell in my lap in 2002, and it made me a zin sympathizer for life. So I bought 6 of the 01 in 04. The first 5 were oppressively oaky, but this 6th bottle reminded me of the 95. Maybe this zin needs age, even with its synthetic cork...which sounds odd. Great length, brambly earth, and perhaps a hint of coffee. A very pleasant surprise.

84 PTS - I was a little underwhelmed by the lack of acidity and focus in this generously fruited 2012 bottling. Perhaps the focus is a Gallo-like charm of likability but it's high RS is a little too much for me. Candied fruit, jam, wood, it is Zinfandel had its lowest common denominator. I'm sure the focus is on value; priced under $14 at costco - but not too impressed
