Their first vintage after leaving Long Island, which saddens me, but still...yummy. Bright, fresh fruit and muddy earth. #FI2018

2021 blend is Aglianico/Sangiovese. Was in a really pretty spot when I opened it. Best Texas red I’ve had from Southold in a few years.

The 2021 vintage is 58% aglianico and 42% sangiovese, from Hill Country. 13.6 ABV. Dark garnet, spice, black pepper, and black cherry on the nose. Prominent spice, pepper, tart stone fruit, medium body; dusty tannins, a bit short on the finish, as you’d expect from a young wine. This bottle went well with a complex, spicy pizza.

Who says Sonoma is for Pinot and Chardonnay and the Finger Lakes are for Riesling and Texas is for beer? Pioneers experimented and we stuck with what they chose to plant. Could there be anything not to love about a Sangiovese and Cab Franc mix from the Texas High Plains? Why the hell not? This is the next generation - now we plant new grapes in new places.

Call of the Brave is a murky brown whole cluster joy of strawberry laced Sangiovese and tart candied red berries. It’s delicious. Complex, nuanced, easy to drink, and wonderful for the senses.
