Bright yellow gold. Inviting nose of dried pineapple and yellow flowers. Firm acidity leads the medium full palate which confirms the nose and adds French oak inspired vanilla, white pepper and a hint of honeyed green apple. Oaky, pome-y notes continue on the moderate finish. A rare, Burgundian style Chardonnay from Carneros which makes it not quite what one would expect from the appellation (especially if one is a Rombauer or Lloyd drinker), but an excellent accompaniment to a wide range of heartier white wine fare. Drink now through 2027.

Grapes sourced from from Sangiacomo Vineyard. Pale lemon with aromas of stone, tropical and citrus fruits and notes of oaky spice. On the palate flavors of ripe apple, nectarine and apricot with notes of lemon citrus and vanilla spice. Medium+ finish, lively acidity ending with fruit and spicy mineral character.

Nice mix of stone fruits, citrus, and tropical fruits with hint of white flower. Light creamy mouth feel highlighted by vanilla and key lime pie with lively acidity and chalky minerals. Touch of saltiness. Very balanced and immensely enjoyable.

Sonoma-Loeb, now part of Chappellet, is a small winery specializing PN and Chard from the Sonoma side of the Carneros AVA. Envoy is their limited production Chard with grapes from selected blocks from 1 or 2 vineyards. For 2015 it’s 100% from Sangiacomo Vineyard.
