Tried this again. Made from vines planted in 1910 at a nearly 2,000-foot elevation. Dark red almost purple with dark fruit aromas with aromatic spice. On the palate blackberry and plum with coffee and black pepper notes, big firm tannins on lingering finish ending with toasty mineral tones. An ok Zin! Tasting Sample.

Delightful, dark, value.

Sobon’s fiddletown estate zin is warm flavored, barely translucent, ruby gem. We’ve loved the dark fruit, stout acid, and burning 15.5% alcohol for a couple nights and will definitely buy again. Could’ve laid down another couple of years, but very approachable now, big enough for richest dishes, but sweet enough, and complex enough, to enjoy in its own with a glycerol finish and decent length, especially at this price.
