When I pick #thetcwineclub wines every month from The Wine Gallery, I’d like to say there’s a strategy behind my choices but to be completely honest, I seem to get sidetrack by the ‘oooo I really want to try that’ train. This Smallfry ‘Eclectik Violet’ 2017 Grenache & Cinsault blend from South Australia’s Barossa Valley was one of those picks!
Smallfry are big on natural/zero intervention winemaking that lets the fruit speak for itself in your glass. This red blend is naturally fermented and minimal sulphites have been added.
In the glass it’s a light cherry red colour. The nose is vibrant and fresh with whiffs of spiced, juicy red fruits. In the mouth it’s easy drinking and thirst quenching with a lovely tang of cranberry acidity. I’ll skip the mulled wine and take this excellent alternative thanks.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #winesample #tcweekdaywine
