I picked up this bottle of Sileni 2017 Sauvignon Blanc to go with our fish’n’chips - so good! This all white bottle is part of their seasonal range which as it says on the bottle: ‘wine that loves company’. When reading about this limited Release wine, I came across a press release with this quote which I found interesting:
“Sileni Estates takes its name from the Sileni, companions of Dionysus in classical Greek mythology. Their purpose was to encourage the enjoyment of delicious food, great wine and social interaction. Wine can sometimes be taken too seriously, but this packaging is all about enjoyment,” says Sileni CEO Nigel Avery.
Now for the wine: It’s a pale straw colour in the glass. Notes of passionfruit, herbs and freshly cut lemon come through on the nose. The palate is über fresh with notes of gooseberry and the lemon & lime acidity cuts through the fish’n’chips grease wonderfully.

Citrus and tropical fruits aroma is impressive in 2nd time. Taste includes enough acidity, so making me fresh fruits flavor. Compared with first time, green apple flavor and taste. Just at the time to sip it, feel a bit acidity which add good feeling. Quite good balance. @660, Breeze Center, 160924

While I don't normally live Sauvignon Blanc, this one is a keeper. Deceiving you as a fuller bodied, slightly oaked version masking the acidity. Easily mistaken for a Chablis. Traditional grassy, mineral notes with high citrus flavors.
