Best NY red I have ever had! Med plus acidity has preserved this 2008 cool climate red and cab franc berries tobacco and green peeper are all there with a balanced tannin and alcohol - this is what to look for if you come to NY and want to try something other than whites

Core bursts of sweet/tart cherries, beef jerky and violets. Shades of leather, baking spices, toast and balsamic vinegar. Hint of that cool climate Cab Franc vegetal quality but it is integrated perfectly. Four years of oak aging. Very complex wine that has gripping tannins and a lingering finish. A very pleasant surprise.

Perfect with the wood-fired vegetable lasagna at Halsey’s in Geneva. Great place to eat, especially if Nina is your server.

Perfectly aged FL cab franc. One the nose: earthy and vegetal, perfectly in character for a well aged cab franc. In the mouth: earthy strawberries, vegetal and smooth tannins. Long finish. Very well made.

Picked this up from the vineyard in he Finger Lakes (and met the owner!). Jammy red fruit on the nose with enough tannins to keep it structured. Smells somewhat like a farm. In a good way.

Full bodied, smooth tasting. Very flavorful.
I bought during a trip to the FL based on past reviews, so glad I did. I really enjoy this Cab!

Shaw has a deserved reputation for doing the best reds in the Finger Lakes. Although they've made very nice wines with other varieties, this bottle reminded me why Cab Franc is still the best red in the region. Up front there's loads of delicious black cherry fruit, with raisins in the nose. It's accompanied by dry slate and dusty minerality, with a pleasantly sour acidity. The tannins and oak stay in the background but are just right for balance. The mouth feel is very light, and the finish adds pepper. This is a really good wine for grilled beef and hamburgers.
