When is the last time you had a bad Shafer? Thank you for sharing this bottle with the crew @Eric LaMasters. Dark maroon to the core. Slight bricked edges. Plum, black cherry and sage run the entire spectrum. With time in the glass this wine showed better and better. Wonderful.

Another good showing from the mid-90’s from @Eric LaMasters more bold, tannic and chewy than the Insignia or Mondavi. Fruit is muddled a bit and more blue/black than red. Again a very very good wine and showing exceptionally at almost 25. Lacks a little finesse.

Earthy, dark cherry, exquisitely balanced with a lingering fruit finish -a perfect accompaniment to our Christmas tenderloin

At it's peak and delicious. Tea, prunes, tobacco, black licorice, dried violets and light soy. Silky soft. A real treat!

Shared with Jonny Ta. Disappointing vs expectations. Has lost vibrancy and fruit. Tannic structure there but didn't perform near as well as many older SHS bottles for me
