This will shine years from now...don't make the mistake and open it like we did. Way too young right now.

More savory than I remember this wine. Super wide bandwidth of flavor. Only 78% Merlot with a balance of Malbec and Cabernet

πŸŽ„ Advent Halfy Calendar Day 21 πŸŽ„

πŸŽ… Santa says β€œThree days to go so just had Mrs Claus do my sack, back & crack - gotta be beech ready for some regions I deliver πŸ˜‰β€

πŸ“ I say My favourite πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Merlot that’s not a Merlot 🀣 not as pungent & in your face as the 2012/13 and a bit easier going πŸ‘ You can’t go wrong with this wine 😍 especially with πŸ₯© I’d give this 3-5 years but good now to πŸ˜€

⏩ 🍾 Mrs E got Bruno Paillard Premier Cuvee NV

πŸ“ Shafer Merlot 2014

🏡 92-93 points

πŸ‡ 78% Merlot, 14% Malbec & 8% Cabernet Sauvignon

🍷 Opaque black ruby

πŸ‘ƒ Dark damson plum, black cherry & blackcurrant w/ raspberry, cloves, cocoa, spice, liquorice, mint & gravel w/ a touch of smokey oak lingering

πŸ‘„ Med+ super smooth silky spiced blackcurrant, dark plum, dark cherry, blueberry & cocoa cream w/ a sweet raspberry undertone w/ a touch of green stalk & coffee kick

🎯 Long ripe black fruit finish covered with dark chocolate, raspberry & blueberry sprinkles

Deep Magenta color.

Blackberries, tart cherry, pomegranate and baking spices.

A bit young to drink but I am visiting Shafer vineyards this Thursday so couldn’t resist giving myself a head start.

A bit more sour than I expected, but quite easy to drink as a 15.3% alcohol content. Probably would say it's a medium-bodied wine.

This wine was murdered tonight. This one has a TON of youthful black fruit, bramble, wildflower, chocolate. The makings of a really nice Merlot are all here, but are just very tight. After an hour of being in the glass, this one really did perform quite a bit better than it did initially after it was "Coravinned." Sweeter, youthful fruit on the front. Acidic finish, tannin very present. Stiff oaked tannic finish. Very enjoyable. Wish I had a case of this. At the price paid, I should have bought a case, but unfortunately snoozed.

Good with appetizers. Strong alcohol. Maybe not good without food.
