Sarocka Estate
Spring Mountain District Red Blend
Oh my word...
Cassis and blueberries on the nose.
Kirsch overload on the palate, but with a little too much oak treatment, leaving heavy vanilla notes. Integrated tannins and relaxed acidity. Totally approachable now, and in my view, won’t stand long-term cellaring.

Revisiting this just two weeks shy of a year later and my notes are nearly identical. 2 hour decant. Huge nose of blackberry with a faint hint of mint. Dark fruit dominates a voluptuous mouthfeel - liquid silk - sweet tannins. Great balance and in a great drinking spot. The ‘10 of this Spring Mountain beauty was made by Helen Keplinger. So good.

Feb 25th, 2018Amazing wine with an incredible depth of flavor. Dark berries, tea and a bit of camphor on the nose, incredibly layered and soft on the palate with black berries, bright fruits and a hint of minerality - silky smooth tannins and a long finish. This is drinking really well right now. Made by Helen Keplinger in 2010; Mike Hirby took over with the 2011 vintage (which wasn't released). The estate is hands-down one of the most beautiful in Napa. Very small production (under 150 cases).

Sep 3rd, 2016Blind tasting, wine number 5, bag number 5b. Decanted for 2 hours. Dark, deep and opaque ruby red. Nose had a lot of dark berries, and a ton of cassis. Slow attack then it hits hard. High tannins (8.5/10) and full bodied. Long lingering finish. Beautiful and voluptuous wine. Second time having this and I loved it. Cannot wait to buy the 2013 next year. My WOTN!
