My infatuation with these wines is nothing new, but this was my first time trying one with a touch of age. This Little Wine #6 is a blend of 4% 2012 vintage, 5% 2013 vintage, 44% 2015 vintage and 47% 2016 vintage. This was released in the beginning of 2017.

As if this alone wasn’t a treat, a buddy opened up the single vintage from the same release, the 2015 Mahe & Ribo. Similarities abound between the two, but I found this to be more sweet, rich fruit and less savory/roasted character. I wish I could have a candle from these wines because for me, there is no wine out there that has better aromatics than these. Absolutely fills the room with gorgeous dark fruits…high toned with jam/preserves notes. Sandalwood is evident too. The palate is very Aussie Shiraz like without dialing everything to 11. There is intensity here, but it’s not too much. Similar notes on the palate with so much back and forth of rich fruits with violets to sweet espresso and black peppered dark chocolate. Round and silk like on the palate. Enjoy now or hold.

See previous notes for Little Wine #6. In summary very dark Ruby with purple tinges. Opaque. Luscious mouth filling Shiraz - the old vine source is obvious - soft, plush and plummy. A blend of 2016, 2015, 2013 and 2012 - all good vintages. I took delivery of my allocation of Little Wine #10 recently. 36 weeks later I had my last bottle of Little Wine No. 6 with consistent notes on 9th February 2022. Amazing value for $31 back in the day.

This Little Wine #6 is a blend of 2016 (47%), 2015 (44%), 2013 (5%), and 2012 (4%) - all good vintages and sourced from that precious old vine material in the Dallwitz vineyard. This wine had an array of black fruits of berry, cherry and currant with hints of spice including clove on the nose. Fraser seems to have a process of picking early so his wines even in ripe vintages like those in the blend are not porty. Always finishing with those silky tannins. A lovely wine at a good price.

Deep crimson with youthful purple tinges. Notes of ripe plum and wood spice. Beautiful texture - lush mouthfeel - also some savouriness preventing it from being a Barossa fruit bomb (% of whole bunch?). Great balance and amazing QPR. My first of 6 from Little Wine #6 Mainly from the 2015 vintage. Had another one 26 weeks later on 18 March 2019 with consistent notes. Always a satisfying Barossa Shiraz with good balance and silky palate.

Cannot praise @Fraser McKinley enough for his accomplishment with handling Syrah. Flat out gorgeous stuff made with an alternative twist.

Really lovely. Lots of cherry fruit supported by firm yet fine tannins. Nice herbal accents on the finish.
