'S' Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Brut Chardonnay

Really pure and light and lifted. Soft floral notes and a steely spine underpinning it. Long and tense and perfectly balanced with a purity and deftness that is gorgeous. The best 96 I’ve had from them.

Light and pretty on the nose. Lifted and precise fruit. Hints of lemon, white flowers, limestone. Soft edges and pretty. Seamless and polished.

Gorgeous. Seamless and integrated- the best version of this I’ve tried. Light in color. Lemon oil, stone, fine tingling acidity. All very in place and very classy. Great.

My third and last bottle. The previous bottle was enjoyed in 2015 at which point it still had a laser-focused precision with sky-high acids and pumping energy. Now, the wine was more rounded and developed; the nose highly mineral, smokey, and with vanillin, citrus, and liquorice notes; the mousse was creamy and still vibrant but clearly less than in -15; taste was fruit forward with citrus, peach, and apples, and with brioche and some tertiary flavours like trouffles and green herbs. Very elegant and the best I’ve had to date. Happy New Year.

Much more open than the last bottle we tried, a great champagne more about wine than bubbles, with tremendous length and complexity.

Salon from the highly regarded 1996 vintage. We're drinking this to celebrate my surpassing 10,000 followers on Vivino! And, oh boy, is this a powerhouse! Classic notes of brioche, baked apple, dried honey and smoke. It's the palate of this Champagne that really impresses—massive, expansive and precise. Minerality dominates, arching across the acid spine with thrilling chalkiness salinity and Meyer lemon. The finish is...remarkable.

Mesmerigingly beautiful. Has lost some of its youthful austerity, yet remains very fresh and vibrant. A tremendous bottle. Delish.
