A little dry for my taste, but nice overall flavor- woody, tart and yet slightly sweet

Exactly what I expected from an $11 Zinfandel. Very fruit forward with negligible tannins, little complexity, although not overwhelming on the alcohol. A big, jammy wine perfect for BBQ ribs, but not very interesting on its own.

Rubus 2015 Old Vine Zinfandel (SRP $13): Rubus is a private label created by Kysela Pere et Fils, LTD to deliver rock-solid wines at attractive price points to consumers. I fondly remember their 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. It was released in 2010 and immediately flew off the shelves. My wine friends and I searched high & low for that wine, and I’m pretty sure we all still have some stashed. For $20, it over-delivered for the price. This old-vine Zinfandel from Lodi, California, is a solid buy for the money too. Though round and full-bodied, it manages to remain light on its feet, bursting with delicious upfront flavors of fresh raspberry, plum compote, and sweet blackberries sprinkled with brown baking spices, cedar, and a dash of black pepper. This Zinfandel paired wonderfully with a few racks of baby back ribs I smoked. Try it for yourself! You will not be disappointed. #Rubus #Zinfandel #Lodi #LodiWine #Zin #wine #winelover #cawine
