Alexander Valley Chardonnay

Honestly, very impressed, especially for a 13 year old bottle of Chardonnay. This tasted more like 5 years old. Deep yellow with medium plus viscosity. Very toasty with some butter on the nose. Thick and inviting, even a little bit of apple in the finish. Moderate acidity (5/10), nicely structured with a medium body. Warm and inviting on the palate with some buttery notes, slightly baked apples and a little bit of minerality near the medium finish. Overall very impress, but drink now as soon as this breathes for about an hour it starts to thin out.

This has seen better days. Creamed corn.

Excellent and Balanced. Citrus, green melon and orange blossom. Well integrated soft oak, creamy body and a touch of spice on the finish

Swirl and allow to open up. Not too heavy on the oak and butter, nice amount of acidity to balance it out.

Definitely not sub 90. Does it have that backbone and full throttle complexity of a Marcassin, Peter Michael, Aubert or Kistler chard? No. But, as far as Chardonnay goes this one is a pleaser at the $40 price point. Nose of basil and rosemary and limestone, honey and pear. Entry is rounded up front, entry with surprising acidity. Honey, peach, white wildflowers, honeysuckle, mango. Gets more mineral rich in the middle and finish. Impressive chard. I'd say this can hold 5 to 10 years easily.

This wine does a good job of walking the tightrope between mineral driven and rounded. This wine has a nose of peach, citrus, some brioche. Enters very rounded: mango, honeydew, peach. This wine then goes to more of a mineral-driven middle with a steely character. Finishes with a sharp acidity, lime. Went really well with herbed chicken and an apple-cheddar-shallot-spinach salad with olive oil dressing. The remaining chards will be held a little longer. This wine is not as complex as the Barrel Reserve Chard for sure, but is a solid wine considering the price.

Very well balanced. Lots of citrus.
