History begins in 1885, when Osea Perrone, a doctor in San Francisco's Italian community, bought 180 acres near the top of Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This is 100% Zin! Dark Ruby with aromas of berry fruits, floral and spice! On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with peppery floral herb spice integrated with fine soft tannins, lively acidity. Medium+ finish ending with juicy fruit and spice. Nice!

Popped and poured. Stewed dark brambles and Luxardo cherries with pie crust, Herbs de Provence (the American stuff with the lavender) and freshly cracked black pepper. On the palate, again brandied cherries and dusty dirty country road (riding my bike tells me that). Very good Paso Zin.

Some wines restore your faith in life. Ridge zins always ring true. Dark, grape purple in the glass with a blast of ripe black fruit, American oak and bramble bush stem. A true American icon... and a true American bargain.
