Realm Cellars
Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
This is the only Realm I've ever had that I didn't enjoy. Too much wood for me. Just their 2nd vintage with this designation so still working on their style.

Mar 30th, 2015Absolutely: Happy Anniversary to us! We don't have a huge array of 2004s (the year we were married), but this Realm cab was a terrific match with the filet mignon I fired up on the grill. Surprisingly, this took about an hour to really open up - went from a good but medium bodied at best wine to a complex, full-bodied cab with a great combination of blue and black fruits coupled with some great older notes of leather and dried currants. Probably not quite at the level of what Juan and the other folks at Realm are doing now (at least based on the scores - out of my price range now)...but it's pretty damn good!

May 22nd, 2017Monster cab! Minty nose, dark berry mid palate with a chocolate mint finish. Fuller than full bodied and longer than a long finish. This took a looooong time to open. I decanted for 2+ hours and the first taste was still wound up and bland. Still going too

Jul 11th, 2016Chewy tannins, a bit dusty. The fruit lingers just below the surface. Nice mud palate. All black and blue fruit. Still a bruiser. Time will be your friend.
