This wine is 6 years old and has essentially zero sediment. That means a heavy-duty filtration, which causes me to think, how much flavor did they strip out? Putting that aside, this is very good. Classic scents of brambly dark blackberry and a hint of dark maple syrup, and smoky gravel. In the mouth, it’s large framed, and would benefit from a bit more flesh and fruit. But that’s quibbling. It went very nicely with my mesquite grilled hangar steak.

A big wine, but not out of balance. Ripe nose of spicy ripe blackberry, smoky gravel, and a whiff of maple syrup. Mouthfilling bright, ripe blackberry and black cherry fruit with loads of stony minerals. Long finish has good acidity for such a big (15.1%) wine.

First few sips were great and full of cherry and briar spice, big bouquet. As it opened, however, the structure was lacking and the flavors muted. Still very drinkable, though - nothing offensive or cloying, just dulled with air.

2012. A large-scaled, structured Zin. Night one, tannin and alcohol were too present. Night 2, fruit more prominent. Classic Dry Creek scents of spicy blackberry, dark stony minerals, and and smoky maple syrup. Huge body. Will improve over next year.

Aged Zinfandel and Ravenswood wins again. The nose is soft and loamy with notes of blackberries and plum. The palate is soft and elegant with bright acidity and spice. Elegant flavors of black and red fruits lead to subtitle spice and darker loamy and earthy notes. The finish is long and soft but continues to highlight the spice and berry fruit notes. Another winner.

Opening the 2012 teldeschi after picking up 3 quarters worth of orders from Ravenswood (9bottles) got 2 extra 2014 teldeschi so I can enjoy this 2012 with Jessica who joined me on picking up my wine.

Astringent...disappointing and lacking depth. Bummer.

Big tannins, big fruit, big oak. Nothing remotely subtle about it. A whopper of a wine.

Anything but delicate zinfandel from Sonoma. Zesty, spicy-rich, yet black fruit dominant. Some smoke, hint of toasted notes. Might want to give it 30 minutes before pouring.
