Fantastic aged California cabernet. Blind I would have said Ridge Monte Bello from the mid 90s. It possesses those red cabernet fruit notes, eucalyptus, touches of fennel. Beautiful acidity and nice long pleasing finish. Plenty of depth and extract. Harkens to the good old days.

Still youthful and exuberant like its winemaker. Crème de cassis & blueberry backed by saddle leather and a touch of venison. Remarkably fresh at 25 years

nose - plum, stewed fruit

Plum, raspberry, decent acid, solid balance for the age, good aged fruit

Still structured and vibrant but definitely showing the ripe and dark fruits. Worth it if it's a good price

Verging on hot Italian, in that sour cherry sundried tomato red pepper sandwich topping vein. Not without development, primary fruit alive, still a little boozy/alcohol/glycerol on finish, on reflection—though to be clear, 13.2% on the label. 10-acre vineyard planted to cabernet in 1945, merlot added in ’83.

VA for the first 20 min or so then blew off. Soaring nose but feels riper overall then some of the other ravenswood cabs from the same era with 13.9 abv. These mixed cases have been the best purchases I’ve made on wine
