The 2008 Produttori Del Barbaresco Asili is a treat! What a lovely wine. Intense, deep and complex. I should have probably kept this in the EuroCave (equivalent) until I can afford the premium branded wine fridge. Fun to drink this al fresco in NoMad at La Pecora Bianca, where a series of unfortunate mistakes led to the restaurant generously covering most of the tab.

I love Produttori and I love Asili. Medium garnet, the nose reveals gorgeous scents of dried violets, dried red plums and red cherries, forrest floor, leather, black truffles, wood spice and a dash of refreshing menthol. The palate expands vertically, offering a multi-layered, full-bodied, tightly structured Nebbiolo destined for long term aging. This is a delicious Barbaresco from one of the world's most respected wine co-operatives. Drink now until 2040.

This wine was singing. Rose, bramble, tobacco and bitter chocolate fragrance. Savory, soy black fruit flavors all pleasingly conveyed with compelling length w/o harsh tannins or acidity.
