The 2008 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs is a powerful wine. Intense chalky and savory notes are at the heart of this expressive Blanc de Blancs from vineyards in Cuis, Bisseuil, Tauxières and Ludes. Readers will find an especially potent, structured Blanc de Blancs built on real vinous intensity and power. The 2008 has the depth to drink well with just about anything at the dinner table, and the pedigree to develop for years to come in bottle. Beautiful nose of yeast, bread, minerals, floral, just beautiful. So complete, airy and engaging. Stunning palate. Superb mousse, such sapidity and purity. Just massages the mouth. This is so fine. Unreal finesse here. And so long and balanced. Elite. Lovely intense Meyer lemon. Dry and intense. So much going on. Sweet tart of a finish.

We visited Ployer-Jacquemart last month and shipped two bottles of this B-d-B among other wines. I wish we had shipped more. It drank better than I remembered it to be. Toasty, fresh and effervescent and we’ll structured. The extra brut even seemed to have mellowed. An underrated champagne.
