Pithon-Paillé
Mozaïk Anjou Cabernet Franc
Oh how I love thee, Cabernet Franc. Almost as much as I love varietally correct wines. Light cherry in color with hints of ruby undertones. Smoke shows on the nose initially but cherries, rose petals, and oregano join the party as well. This is an incredibly fresh Cab Franc, probably one of the freshest I’ve ever tasted. High acid and plenty of that beautiful earthy, Loire Valley funk abound throughout. This is the beauty of this varietal, one of most simple, non dramatic wines I’ve tasted in forever and I am absolutely in love with it. On the palate, there’s a plethora of fresh herbs, raspberries, and green peppers. Plenty of damp forest, strawberries, and menthol serve to top things off. If I’m able to find a more pleasant, enjoyable wine this year, I’ll be stunned.
