At the Peter Lehmann dinner at the Downs Club. This Wigan Riesling (named after Peter’s right hand man Andrew Wigan) was from the difficult cool wet 2011 vintage. Some poor reds were made in SA in 2011 but this Riesling is quite good with lime juice and honeyed characters starting to develop. No paraffin/kerosene notes like the 2013. Good potential and developing nicely.

Nov 15th, 2019At the Peter Lehmann dinner at the Downs Club. From the warmer 2013 vintage. Notes of paraffin lime and lemon on the nose with medium minus acid. Still developing. Winemaker says cellar up to 15 years. From shallow rocky soils in the Eden Valley.

Nov 15th, 2019Bursting with aromas of toast, hay, clotted cream, kerosene, hay and lemon and lime. Texture really worth noting here with noticeable phenolics, acid on the decline but the length was powering on through.

Just lovely. Great with lobster - drank from a plastic cup in the dark so couldn't comment in more detail!

Mar 14th, 2015Leesy & cheesy with fresh straw notes. Lime pith comes through on the palate along with zesty, almost-puckering acidity. Long finish. A bit more evolved than I'd expect at 5 years old, but that might have just been this bottle.

Even the tears I shed into the glass at the thought of this being my last '06 couldn't dilute its charm. Youthful still, with tingling presence and invigorating length
