So this was how I spent Global Champagne Day 2022. I picked up this bottle of @perrierjouet via my @emperor.champagne subscription.
Being a classic ‘white of whites’ (aka Blanc de Blancs) it is made of 100% Chardonnay grapes 🍇 It retails for about $130.
Some things you may not know about the Perrier Jouët Champagne house:
🍾 Chardonnay is the signature grape variety of the House.
🍾 Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët founded the house in 1811.
🍾 Lovers of art, the house commissioned Emile Gallé who designed the label in 1902 which is decorated with Japanese anemones.
🍾 In October 2020, Séverine Frerson becomes the 8th cellar master – and the first woman to hold the position – in the history of the House.
So how was this bubbly elixir?
Let’s just say it did not disappoint!
Think pale golden lemon colour in the glass with a nose full of lemon and floral sherbet, fresh hay and crumpets with butter slathered on. In the mouth it has a super smooth texture with green apple & pear notes. It’s delicate yet has a flavoursome oomph. I’d buy it again 🍾

Big nose full of brioche and citrus. Buttery, honey on the palate with lots of lemon curd and fine bubbles. Long dry finish. First time drinking PJ and I’ll be back for more

Nice NV BdB but @ £65-80 a little high priced compared to other NV like Ruinart BdB
🍷 Clear straw yellow w/ green hue
👃 Fine shortbread apple biscuit w/ citrus zest’s, honey brioche & smokey mineral rocks w/ farmyard smokey saline dried meats
👄 Refreshing crisp green apple infused fine bubbles mouse w/ citrus spritz, minerals, sour pear & grapefruit
🎯 Long bone dry mineral infused dry green fruits
Nice NV BdB but @ £65-80 a little high priced compared to other NV like Ruinart BdB
