A nice and interesting 39 year old Northern Rhône red.

Light bodied with medium minus acidity.

Very earthy with red fruits, earth, forest floor, licorice, light oak and wet leaves.

Needs 30 minutes to open up and remove the stinky nose.

On the way out by now, but still drinkable. Not showing too much complexity and not much fruit left in it. Bitter on the finish.

I had a year ago with not much change, but still a nice experience to be able to taste these old wines.

I paired it with a cheese board.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

Beautiful color of light ruby with a wide brick rim.

On the nose red currants, cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, spices, wood, cloves, light vanilla, cola, tobacco, vegetables, earth, barnyard, wet leaves, herbs, vinaigrette, dark coffee and black pepper.

Light to medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.

Very dry on the palate with cranberries, pomegranates, cherries, red currants, licorice, earth, spices, graphites, bitter herbs, vegetables, bell pepper, forest floor, tobacco leaf, vinaigrette and black pepper.

Short finish with bitter herbs, fine grained tannins and tart cranberries.

This is a nice experience. This 38 year old Northern Rhône Syrah is still drinkable. Unbalanced now, with light fruits and earth notes.

Needs an hour to open up properly and show some tannins, but didn't last after 3 hours.

A good food wine, though. Very interesting and unique.

I paired it with heavy appetizers.
