Perchance Beckstoffer Vineyard George III Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Napa Valley, California

It’s time for my
#FridayCabernetfix. Here is a gorgeous one from Napa Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Beautiful nose of blackberries, black currants, cooked strawberries, figs, raisins, vanilla, licorice, cedar, Mediterranean spices, earth, black pepper, light herbs and a touch of green vegetables.

Full bodied, soft and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, cooked cherries, black currants, plums, cedar, earth, alcohol, light vegetables, licorice, spices, tobacco, vanilla and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins, spices and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Nicely balanced and fruit forward, with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.

This Single Vineyard from the Beckstoffer Vineyard George III, is good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.

Still very very young, but already drinking very nicely, even right out of the bottle. Much better after 3 hours of airtime, when the tannins and the complexity come in.

This wine changes every hour, and it is so much fun to see how it evolves in the decanter. Lots of earth notes come out after 3 hours of airtime.

Needs 5 to 7 years to mature properly, and will age nicely in the next 20 years.

Spicy, rich and opulent. Powerful yet elegant. Has great potential to become a 96+ point wine.

I paired it with dried meats and cheeses.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged for 23 months in French oak barrels (85% new).

14.9% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$215.
