Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

Must decant this for a good hour. The nose was inviting . Hoping for a little more complexity. That it wasn’t. Average bottle of wine.

Napa cab with Irish lineage and, after a few hours, a Bordeaux soul. Rich, cedary Napa nose followed by dark plum, black cherry and dark chocolate. Tobacco. This has years to go, but comes out after an hour+ decant. Outstanding.

Last of the blind tasting for Father's Day weekend.

Deep garnet red. Tons of tomato on the nose straight from the bottle, finally after five hours or so it really started to open up with toasty notes, earthy, woody, a touch green, dark red fruits, forest floor, and a touch of damp leaves. Layered and powerful. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Dark fruits and sweet spices, solid mountain berries too. Cherries, woody and oaky notes. A touch green as well. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2027.

@David L are you freaking kidding me!!!! This is a total rock star. Thank you for sharing this with me. I've had the 10, 12, 13 but this 07 is a show stopper-integrated perfectly-earth, minerals and tar on the nose. Mouth is filled with mulled cassis, charcoal, boysenberry and an echo of smoke and tar. Well focused finish that drying in a pleasant fashion. Nice.

Decanted and sipped over 2 hours. No rating. I don’t know if it will ever come around fully. Disappointing!

Great nose of berries and forest floor. Maybe tobacco too. Surprising amount of structure, still had some tannin to smooth out. Delicious.
