Best Zin I ever tasted was a 1985 Neyers. Spotted this and knew I had to try it. Red, medium extracted pigment, very good clarity. Mint, briar, butter, raspberry and Ribena notes in nose. Cherry, blackberry flavors, mild-to-moderate fine-grain skin astringency, some seed bitterness with lactic and lees in finish. Needs a bit of time to open. Tart black currant and blackberry flavors with length in finish and aftertaste develop after 20 minutes. Great fruit and finesse here, different from the ‘85 but memorable in its own right. Enough tannins here to age a few years as well.

I had a Zinfandel itch and this scratched it. Classic old school style with nothing overblown. Super high-toned brambly red and black fruit and cracked black pepper. Medium+ acid, medium tannin. What this lacks in complexity, it makes up for by being delicious and refreshing.
