Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2010 Mount Eden Estate Pinot Noir is simply beautiful…but then again, I tend to be a sucker for light handed, Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir. The wine pours a very pretty ruby color with a slightly hazy, translucent core. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is still developing with a lovely mix of high-toned red fruits: slightly bruised strawberries, raspberries, with mushrooms, forest floor and mild warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, elegant and by all rights, gorgeous. Drink now and over the next 7+ years, easy.

There's a reason a lot of people love this wine. And that reason is in the bottle. Yum!

2010 - One of my favorite, and most consistent producers of Pinot Noir in the US, and world for that matter. Give this 2 more years. Great balance of fruit to acidity to tannin, with raspberry juice and an edge of compote, that strange terroir of the Santa Cruz Mountains of garrigue mixed with eucalyptus combine with floral notes of rose hips, and clove.

Yes. I wish there was a lot more of this in KS. Cool climate, North American PN at its best. Still very, very young.

I feel this will merit a higher rating in a few years. Just getting in the drinking window.
