Mount Eden's Chardonnay grapes are harvested when slightly yellow to yellow-green and are pressed without crushing. All of the juice is barrel-fermented in new and one-year-old French Burgundy barrels, where the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged on the lees for ten months prior to bottling. The Chardonnay is then cellared for two years before being released.

Mount Eden's 2018 Chardonnay offers a fabulous interplay of richness and energy. A wine of linear intensity, the 2018 could use a few more years in bottle to be at its best, but it is super-impressive, even now, in what is very clearly the early going. Lemon confit, mint, orange peel, spice and light butter notes all build into the articulate, polished finish. This is such a classy wine. Give it a few years to come together. Lookit that color. Mt Eden is so damn consistent and so good. Butterscotch, vanilla bean creme brûlée, mandarin orange, lemon zest, clove, pineapple cake, bit of smoke. Almost touches an exotic fruit register, quite opulent but I’m all about it. @Adriana Fabbro give your Rombauer customers this instead

Still young for my tastes but checking in on a go-to producer. Killer with King Crab Salad sandwiches 🥪

This bottle was a bit slow out the gate and needed some air to reveal the magic inside. This bottle was a pick up from Corti Bros when passing through Sacramento via Tahoe.
Finesse, and beautifully prolific white wine structure all the way throughout.

California white Burgundy of the highest class. Bottle #2174 of reported 102 barrels. Still lively with prominent acidity in its 14th year. Flavors of hazelnut, cashew, pineapple, lime, granite and orange. Spicy wood flavors. Fabulous depth and power balanced by verve and delicacy. Could be at its height of complexity while showing aging colors and the beginning of matured flavors

A stupendous Chardonnay, the kind thats a shining example of what great CA chard can be. Slightly more advanced color than i might have expected, but the palate is full and rich with ripe lemon, a tropical note of passion fruit, and a very long mouthfilling finish. This is wide open for business and exuberant now -- I say drink up as I'm not sure the acidity or focus is there to expect much more improvement
