Morgado
Rita's Crown Pinot Noir
I will probably keep updating my comments as I taste. I exchanged a few correspondence with the Morgado Winery and was encouraged that this wine would be great to drink now...and really appreciated that shipping fee was extremely reasonable! 😉
Initially I was going to wait but given the previous disaster I thought what the heck... be the first to rate the 2016
Huge profile for a Pinot Noir!
A lot of baking spices on the front and midpalatel! Bay leaf...subtle black cherry!
My score is going up...I just noticed the Alcohol...15.1%...absolutely no burn! I just finished a twelve hour shift was beginning to think I was maybe dehydrated (the way this is hitting me)!
To me this wine is highly extracted..different for sure...interested how it would present if I had waited...saving the rest to taste in a few days!
Maybe suggest pairing with food.
Revisiting this wine on day two..massive still! Big on baking spices..bay leaf..Bakers chocolate..wishing I had some Olive Temponade Hummus to pair with this. As @Ron R suggested it is not your typical PN style! I keep searching for fruit that maybe with time? Yet, I am intrigued as this wine is fascinating to explore!
