Bright purple, light to moderate pigment extraction. Funk, barrel and black currant notes in nose. A tad tart and milky initially with black currant and plum fruit, peppery seed tannin and a barrel smoke and spice aftertaste. Needs time to open.

A well balanced and crafted wine. First layer of flavours consist of dark plums, black berry and chocolate. This is followed by medium bodied earthiness and hint of smokiness that dominates mid portion of the wine. The third phase consists of complimentary peppery spices. The tannins unfortunately don’t last long enough because they are quite good. 14% alcohol. Beware this required at least an hour of decanting to fully open up and express its full flavour profile. It kept getting better until unfortunately the bottle was empty!
