Met with Silver Ghost and Montagu Wines owner and winemaker Weston Eidson to taste through the new vintages. I’ve stated before, but Weston is a close friend and someone who I help with tastings/marketing from time to time. Because of the above, I’ll refrain from giving the wines a rating, and hope my reviews fill in the blank for you.

A brand new offering under the Montagu Wines label, and may be a one year deal (though the fruit is still being used for a new and semi secret Montagu project 😉) Weston worked with Russell Bevan on this and it shows. This is a cab lovers pinot. Smells of rich maple and cherry liqueur. Large and in charge on the palate...ripe and candied dark fruits, boysenberry, and wrapped in a dark and decadent profile. Acidity is fairly mellow and while this will need a bit of time to tighten up, if you enjoy big style pinots, this is your huckleberry.
