The ‘13 Mettler Petite Sirah shows very dark color and very dark aromas. Black and blue fruit gets help from a savory streak full of leather, tobacco and black olives. That savory feel carries over onto the palate, which is as dark as the color and smells have advertised. This is a beautiful and complex example of Petite Sirah, sometimes fancy, sometimes rustic. It’s an elegant wine masquerading as a roughneck. It hits 15.5% abv and retails for $25.

Excellent blend of dark plum with earthy tones on the upswing. These flavors give way to a metallic almost port-like finish. Very complex.

Great flavor and good tannin structure. Some fruit, but getting some earthy flavors as well.

Liked it but didn't love it. Thought it was trying a little too hard to be my friend.

Took a little time for the "funk" to blow off; dark purple core with browning around the edges. Blackberry jam, fig, and ripe black table grapes. Medium long finish with gravel and iron notes.
