Punching massively above its weight. Think a Cayuse Syrah but ever so slightly leaner. Tangy berry laser beam, never straying from the edge of tart or fruit, but dancing between nonetheless. Drink up, as the tannins’ feet are aching...

I’m finding more and more appreciation for Martinelli’s Syrahs. This is obviously young, and it only spent about 30mins in the decanter before I poured my first glass. Royal purple in the glass. Wonderful aromatics of savory and herbal spices...charcoal embers with bacon fat, accompanied by currant and underripe blackberries. Lifted acidity on the palate giving the profile of this wine the ability to wear its almost 15% ABV well. Dusty dark fruits alongside bayleaf, and pepper dusted cedar. Hold.

This 11 year old wine gives off a youthful and playful vibe though it is definitely the right time to pop he cork. Black fruit, medium body, tannins are low but great structure. Tons of baking powder and non-herby spices. Has that fatty/bacon grease back end that you don’t get in too many syrahs but is always fun with the right food.

Complex for a Syrah, satiny, beautiful on the nose with a nice finish. Everything a Syrah should be.

High alcohol but still seems to be in balance. Dark berries and intense acidity.

High alcohol, high extraction, overly ripe fruit. Disappointing.

Dark fruit, raw meat, hint of soy sauce. Silky texture with nice acidity and round tannin.

A real gem. Lots of fruit but well balanced and harmonious! Definitely not too old and drinking quite well
