Aromas of fruit, spice and brioche notes, nice mousse and flow. On the palate fresh fruit flavors of ripe apple with hints of citrus zest. Long finish ending with rich yeasty mineral character. Drinks well now.

Nose of baked almond pastry and yeast, with some light caramel notes. Palate of almonds, green apple, brioche. Delicate mousse, medium finish.

Very intriguing aged champagne with a definite vitality still. Slightly oxidative notes on the nose with poached pear, honey, bruised apricot, and caramel. The palate features bright bubbles, which is surprisingly given its age, medium + acidity, lemon curd, more pear. Lovely bottle and very much still alive. 100% Chardonnay, the "exception" to the rule at Mailly.

Just the right amount of green apple and minerality - a hint more would ruin it. Extremely well-balanced wine.
