If you haven’t explored Washington wines, you need to visit Walla Walla. They are making incredible wines that compete with any region in the world without exploiting your wallet. Their prices will rise in time as the demand grows but, for now, they are outstanding wines at reasonable prices.

One of their best producers is Long Shadows. Gilles Nicault is their talented Wine Director who is a French transplant. He works with several consultants who all work on one wine each. World famous; Michel Rolland, Randy Dunn and JohnDuvall who made Penfold’s for 29 years.

I paired their Riesling with my grilled pork chop; which is largely based on the recipe from Mustards Restaurant in Napa Valley. 14 ingredients go into the two day marinade. It is perhaps one of the best food & wine parings I’ve had.

Photos of, the outside fire at Long Shadows, their beautiful tasting room with lots of hand blown glass the grilled pork chop, rosemary potatoes and grilled zucchini from our garden.

On the nose, creamy lemons, lime, green apple, pear no skin, notes of honey, green melon and yellow lilies. It's a stunner at first entry. Fresh, delicate and beautiful. Ripe round fruits of; lemon, lime, green apple, pineapple flesh, green melon, pear, white peach, notes of honey, amazing richness, round, lush, thick, elegant and beautiful. All day. Photos of; the tasting room and blown glass chandelier, the staff busy doing packaging and us barrel tasting with their Director of Winemaking & Viticulture, Gilles Nicault. Really nice Riesling for $20.

One of the best Rieslings I've had from anywhere. Just 1.2% RS. I'd rate it 92.

From my favorite Washington winery, Long Shadows Vintners. Fresh citrus fruit with a rich core. Almost feels like a Viognier but with healthy acidity. Delicious on a windy cool evening on a hotel boat in Sacramento :)

A drinkable Riesling. Had a half bottle with nut crusted Mahi Mahi. It was a fantastic pairing. Some tartness, balances however. Nice wine!

Modest rating for me only because this was a bit sweeter than i prefer In Riesling. Still had crisp apple and some citrus that was enjoyable.

Aromas of lemon and honey with apple notes. Balanced acidity with just the right tartness. Smooth medium finish. Nice wine.
