Livingston Moffett
Mitchell Vineyard Syrah
A clear thin ruby, the '97 Livingston Moffett Syrah 'Mitchell Vineyard' emitted scents of beef bouillon, leather, anise and dried cherry. Initially the acidic mouth was quite tart, bordering on sour, but that gradually evolved to a pleasant complex palate of dark fruits and savory spices. Not one of winemaker John Kongsgaard's finest efforts, but still an interesting and enjoyable wine with an appealing juicy finish.
