Tasted blind with a group of other wines from other mates. This was the WOTN for me. A sensational 40 year old Hunter Shiraz from back in the day when they were called “Hunter River Burgundy “. Appropriate really the same tawny reddish brown and just medium weight with great savouriness, intensity and length. It brought back wonderful memories and proud to say I picked it as an old Hunter but I said from the 1990s not thinking it would have been from 1983. Wines like this made the Hunter great along with aged Semillon. This had the typical Hunter River “sweaty saddle”.
