Le Piane’s 2022 Nebbiolo is a rich, heady wine, but it has found a way to maintain freshness and verve. It’s a big wine for sure, yet all the elements are so well balanced. Very “winey” nose reminds me of Spannas from the 70s and 80s. Macerated ripe cherry, turned soil, a floral note. Round and fruity on entry, it’s got nice, transparent, earthy cherry fruit, turning nicely bitterish as the lean, lingering finish progresses. Like this a lot.

Ordered without knowing it, and it was quite nice and value for the price. Apparently a Nebbiolo blend. Had a cherry character, with body and some heft.
