Past its prime yet still offering seductive and mature, dark fruit flavors, acidic presence and lively tannins. The lack of mid-palate fruitiness and width create a hollowness and shortens the finish. Ambitious but way better 5+ years ago.

Bit the bullet and scooped this one up from a bottle shop in Kobe. Always a gamble buying decent wine here in Japan because you know you're paying a 30% premium. Decanted for an hour but unfortunately this was a bit over the hill. Opaque ruby color with considerable sediment. Reductive aromas of stewed red fruits, raisins, and salty notes. Flavors of canned cherry pie filling and dried fruit. Tannins are still there, but the fruit has lost nearly all its luster. Going to wait another 30 min just in case my assessment is a bit premature!

Opened right after breakfast and first poured out of the decanter with dinner. Big and lovely.

An outstanding wine from Paso Robles producer L'Adventure. A huge wine, with amazing structure and depth. Though it's still a very young wine, 20 years or more of aging is possible, it's nothing but a refined hedonistic experience in the short term. 2007 Optimus, sporting plenty of sediment, so decant accordingly! Opulent and prolific dark fruit, decent acid holds it all together and mild tannins!
