Ruby red with moderate plus intensity. Quite a bit of acidity and red berries. Some blue berries on the nose. Moderate tannins (7/10) and moderate plus bodied. Try again on day two.

Day two: nose has some graphite and stewed berries. Light dryness on the finish. Some herbaceous notes too and sage. Missing something in the mid-palate. Medium plus finish.

Silky smooth. Dark fruits, some spice on the nose and finish. Doing well 6 years out!

Purple and licorice notes, clean and well made on the palate, surprisingly supple tannins for Howell Mountain.

Always a treat to enjoy the pre-sale Ladera Howell Mtn Stiles block Cab. Inky blue in the glass. Age worthy with notes of graphite, slate and the all the blueberry and black fruits. Tannins have softened. Bottle age has treated this well. Easily stands another 3-5 yrs.

Decanted for 90 mins. Beautiful nose, red fruit still vibrant. Pairing with pork steaks, roasted fingerlings for Mother’s Day.

This is old school Ladera back when the Stotesbury fam had the winery. Quintessential Howell Mtn. Inky in the glass with florals and cocoa and black/blueberry on the palate. Soft and elegant finish. Needed a good hour decant but this 10 yr bottle age did wonders.

Classic Howell Mtn Cab. This needed a good 90 minutes to show its colors. Nose of wet leather, violets and blackberry. The palate offers dark berries, cocoa and some spice. Fresh tannins and some bright acidity. The finish is a bit dry. Maybe another 60 min will fix that. Ladera knows Cabs.
