2008 Vina Ardanza 1.5ml

This wine has aged gracefully in the double bottle. Still has nice fruit and freshness from the Grenache. The 2008 is the first vintage the garnacha is 100% estate fruit. A decent amount of American oak and oxidation makes this Rioja easy and fun to drink. 7/3/20

Nicely done fruit. A bit much oak but still enjoyable. Overall very quaffable and delicious present fruit!

Toasty. Caramel. Well balanced. Soft tannins. Good young. A winner!

Drink now—don’t wait on this one. Brilliant, lucid dried red fruit on nose / spice, well-worn leather, blonde tobacco, and savory herbs on palate / acidity still popping but tannins ghosting away. Still, a real beauty at 25. So fresh and majestic.

Has to be new American oak. Vanilla, dill, great polished tannins. Nice wine.

Light to medium garnet red with bricking on the edges. Lovely aged nose with tons of mushrooms, forest floor, dried cherries, leather, cigar box and something a little medicinal. Great acidity and well balanced tannins (5.5/10) with a medium body. Layered palate with notes of tart dried cherries, raspberries, leather, truffles and earthiness. Medium plus length finish. Drink within the next couple years.

Does this winery ever do wrong? So tasty, and fresh as a daisy. Terrific for the price!
