La Boina
Douro Goblet
Good quality wine, primary ripe black fruit, lavender over warm stones, ripe and generous but with a lively a vibrant backbone. Solid performance, well above its modest price.

May 3rd, 2019The nose could lead you to think it's a côtes du Rhône. Blackberries, pepper, almost a garrigue thing too. This could be a syrah. There is a bit more to it too, some red forest fruits, a bit of a menthol thing too. That's nice. The palate is rather powerful and rough around the edges. This might be well too young at this stage. Strong acid, pointy tannins, nice fruit and matter but a bit unbalanced toward acidity at this point and when the tannins unleash their power it's almost too tough by itself and calls for food. The finish is dry, long with a pinch of bitterness too. Not much pleasure right now, it calls for food and a bit more time to settle.

Jul 9th, 2020Easy to like, great thick and pretty tannin heavy dark wine. Supernice for a pastadinner, everything you like with dark fruit and a both bold and heavyness eith a slice of bitterness. Some kind of silk in the mouth too. Longer than first expected....

Feb 28th, 2020Very nice wine with a forward bouquet of dark berries and spices, a very approachable palate with tannins in the background. Not made for ageing long, but very satisfying right now. Good job.
