Kistler
Durell Vineyard Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
November’s 4th Friday was a big hit. There is no way I’ll be able to upload all the wines, nor give them the reviews they deserve, but there were a few worthy of mentioning!
A bit sulfuric on the nose. Slightly funky and herbal aromatics but the palate was showing zippy acidity and a shocking amount of tart fruit! Underripe Granny Smith Apple, lemon tart, mango and limestone. Very different on the palate than the nose.

Shimmering in the glass with pineapple, grapefruit and a hint of tree bark.
On the palette, the wine is dense and viscous. It's layered with meringue, honey and brioche. The flavor profile is wonderful. Very sweet with a finish that extends and expands.
Made in the true opulent Cali style, this is an outstanding example. Wifey felt the wine was too dense on the palette, so I had to insert my will on this note. She came up short with a 9.1 rating.

Really enjoyable chardonnay. Might be a touch past prime but this is drinking rather well. Lots of aged notes, herbal, asian pear, a little citrus and I believe that based on what I was tasting that it probably had more citrus at one time, but not so much now. Finish was very vibrant. Wasn't really rounded...lots more minerality than I was thinking it was going to have. Quite nice.
