This was a fucking beast. 15.5% abv, but it didn't drink like it. Classic Barossa.

2004 Vintage. 15.5% Alcohol. Basket pressed from a vineyard planted in 1875. This was a bottle that we took home from our Australia trip many years ago when we had the pleasure of a vineyard tour and tasting with winemaker Troy Kalleske. Johann Georg is their flagship wine and was very young as we tried to coax it out from its sleep in a large Magnum decanter. As it gained air and came to room temperature it unfolded big fruit and long finish. No rush to open these and I’ll keep our other bottles in slumber for another 5 years. These grapes were used in the Penfolds Grange bottling until Troy started making his own wine. Good on ya mate!
